Post Calling all computer geeks! :P
What is a fatal error number 000000000.20.000000 or something like that? It had lots of 0's LOL. I couldn't turn my computer on for days! Then suddenly it started working again. Sometimes it turns itself off too or the keyboard stops working.... is it my monitor? It keeps saying my display settings don't match blah blah blah so i have to keep changing them. It tld me i had a Kernel error or something too LOL Confused

Pass, would probably need the exact error number, and the kernal error as well for me to be much help. It won't be your monitor. Were it says your display setting don't match maybe just a website best viewd in a certain resolution. But I doubt your computer would tell you that.

Need to know what the Kernel error is. And your other error numbers and such. Blah, blah, blah can't be found in my computer books
Sorry

first of all, i doubt anyone is going to know an error message off by heart. lol
sorry to burst your bubble.
it seems unusual for a computer to just suddenly have problems.
what were you doing on it when that happened?
perhaps you may be able to turn it on, and run it in safe mode. (your computer help
window will tell you about that)
while in safe mode, you should open your control panel, click on "system", and go to the "performance" submenu (given that you are running windows 98.)
that may give you a bit of info about whats going wrong.
if its anything simple, it may just require some hardware to be removed and
re-installed.

LOl no sorry i couldn't remember the error number of by heart and of course now it's NOT going to happen LOL. It was something about a fatal exception error. I couldn't even get to safe mode, it would just start loading and then bring up that error. Other times i could get past that but my desktop would be blank and the mouse not showing or frozen. GAHHHHH i hate computers! I'm so illiterate with them. Can i find that error message somewhere? I think my windows is almost dead LOL.

Oh hold on i will try that thing you said Blindspott if it can be done in normal mode?

Ummmm i was going to say something but i have forgotten......... hmmmmm errrrr ummmmmmm oh yeah Blindspott i had just turned the computer on and it said that, it had beenfine the night before so not to sure. Damn don't tell me i need to ring the computer fixit guy :*(

I had something similar last year.

It sounds suspicously like a virus to me. Try and get the latest virus defiinitions onto your pc and run a full scan.

This is not always possible - as sometimes the virus can block you from updating these files.

Hope this helps

Cheers
Silli

I have AVG which is updated daily but maybe it is one that got past that..??? I am always wary d/l things because i wonder if i am installing a virus LOL. Like stupid Incredimail and Smiley Central messed up my computer awhile ago. I will try d/l another virus checker and see if it picks anything up. Ta Smilie_PDT

hiy guys. sorry i'm late. Embarassed
It sounds peculiar. it does sound like there would be some sort of virus, or a software corruption.
If you CAN turn it on and get into windows, read the help manual and find out how to get into safe mode on your computer. then you can run AVG and it should find whats causing the problem without any programs getting in the way.
if that doesnt work, you might have to just reboot the computer. You may have been given recovery disks with the computer when you bought it. if you did, (find them!) and reinstall the operating system. (eg. windows 9Smilie_PDT There should be two options, one to reinstall the software only, the second to wipe the computer and reinstall the software. Thats just so you can choose whether to save important imformation on the computer or not, if what you have on there is what you are holding dear.
About a week ago i got a download from AVG and my comp froze, so the software ended up being corrupted. It took a while to realise i wouldnt have it working again. so i FOUND (lol messy room) the recovery disks, stuck them in, and got my system back online. it took a bit of doing but now its back the same way it was!
